Published: 6/19/08 If you are in the market for flooring, look no further than Fleming & Sheeley, Inc. Abbey Carpet & Floor at their new location in Rosedale. Featuring a gallery-style showroom as well as a warehouse with cash and carry stock, youre sure to find what youre looking for when you visit. At Fleming & Sheeley, customers dont just get the chance to look at the merchandise, they can actually experience the look and feel of several different types of flooring. Each section of the spacious showroom is decked out with a variety of flooring in that category, so customers can fully appreciate the wide range of carpeting, ceramic tile, vinyl flooring and hardwoods available to help them choose the right flooring solution for their needs. We pride ourselves in the quality of our merchandise and our customer service, says owner Morris Schechman, adding that the salespeople are highly knowledgable about the products they sell. Were competitive in the marketplace and we try to sell better and the best. In business since 1947, Fleming & Sheeley began as the first home center right in the heart of downtown Essex. Original owners Nelson Fleming and Don Sheeley sold everything for the home in their store. In the 1950s, shop at home service began, a service that is still available today. In the mid-1970s, Schechman joined the staff as manager of the store, eventually purchasing the business from the owners in the early 1980s. Fleming and Sheeley retired soon after. In the early 1990s, Fleming and Sheeley, Inc. partnered with the Abbey Carpet franchise, a company that began in 1957. Fleming and Sheeley grouped up with a company that was just like the way we were, notes Schechman. Weve been very pleased. The advantage joining with Abbey, where each franchise is owned by an individual, is the perk of buying group - Abbey has more than 800 stores nationwide. As buyers, we are able to purchase only the choicest of merchandise at the best prices, Schechman explains. Formerly located on Eastern Boulevard across from Middlesex for 11 years, that store closed three months ago and Fleming & Sheeley moved to their new location in Rosedale where showroom and warehouse are all under one roof, allowing the store to offer cash and carry merchandise. If youre looking for carpet remnants, be sure to check the warehouse where some remnants sell for just $10. Carpet mats for $1 are also available. If youre looking for flooring, Fleming and Sheeley, Inc. Abbey Carpet & Floor has it all. They even offer a line of carpet from Joy Carpets, Inc., a very unique line featuring whimsical designs perfect for childrens rooms, game rooms, schools, department stores, etc. Designs such as bowling pins, camouflage, a jigsaw puzzle, decks of cards and more can be found. Even a line of environmental flooring products made from all natural materials are offered. Were trying to provide a full line of green flooring, says Schechman. With flooring made from exotic bamboo (a green product because bamboo grows back after its cut), cork (a soft flooring that wears well and is good for seniors) and reclaimed wood, Fleming and Sheeley, Inc. is off to a great start. Schechman emphasizes, We offer equal pricing in every category. The all natural products dont have to be a lot more expensive. Offering weekly promotions, such as having customers draw for savings (ranging from having the store pay the sales tax on up), the store is excited about a new Deal or No Deal summer promotion. Tent sales are also planned for the season, and Schechman hopes to have company spokesperson Laurie DeYoung from WPOC out for a live broadcast. With flooring for all budgets, the company offers 12 months same as cash, no payments and no interest. They offer financing through American General, a local company. And the company installs everything they sell. Fleming & Sheeley, Inc. Abbey Carpet & Floor is located at 9103 Yellow Brick Rd., Suite A - C. The store is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. For more information, call 443-460-4600 or visit www.baltimore.abbeycarpet.com. |
