In 2009, residents of Oak Crest Village, the continuing care retirement community located in Parkville, lived life to the fullest! People who call Oak Crest home enjoyed the freedom and time to make new friends and re-connect with others. They also possessed the security to take advantage of our comprehensive community health and wellness system. And with over 170 resident-created clubs and groups, Oak Crest proved that there is something for everyone. Here's a sampling of what people who call Oak Crest home experienced this year: Our sports lovers shot free throws with high school students during March Madness, attended the most exciting Orioles game of the season at Camden Yards and sang with Derrick Mason and three other players during Ravens Community Karaoke at the Acorn Pub. Our residents celebrated National Pastoral Care Week during a special luncheon with our ministries team and clergy members from the surrounding community. Our travelers took numerous trips to the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and other cultural centers in Maryland, using the recognizable Oak Crest shuttle buses. People who live at Oak Crest displayed their environmental awareness by expanding recycling policies, commemorating Earth Day and participating in clean-ups of Belmont and Double Rock Parks. A pet-friendly campus, dog lovers showcased their enjoyment for their faithful and talented pets during the Second Annual Canine Cup. The residents of Oak Crest demonstrated their appreciation of arts, crafts and elegance during the Fun With Beads Luncheon and the Fashion Show. Volunteers shared their talents through a series of service projects, including the Pen Pal Program with students from Deep Creek Elementary and the Feed the Homeless Project with the Maryland Food Bank. They expressed their creative side at the annual Halloween Costume Contest and swung for the fences during the Home Run Derby. The people of our community showed their appreciation for the delicious food served by the chefs at our six restaurants by participating in the Dining Service department's "Iron Chef" competition. And they excelled…as two earned a trip to the Maryland Senior Citizens Hall of Fame, one ran a half-race at the Baltimore Marathon and another won awards at a national ballroom dancing competition in Florida. What's next, you ask? As Oak Crest celebrates its 15th Anniversary in 2010, our residents will continue to enjoy an active and engaged lifestyle. As always, they won't be saddled with costly home maintenance repairs and unpredictable utility expenses. And they won't be raking dozens of bags of leaves or shoveling snow either! Take the next step by visiting Oak Crest to see for yourself. It's the perfect time to ask questions, learn about pricing and see our beautiful 90-acre campus. Please call us at 410-665-2222 to arrange a personal tour of Oak Crest. And visit us at www.ericksonliving.com. |
